About the Workshop



Workshop on Design for Sustainability (D4S): Creative Design for Sharing Economy builds on the previous success of the KU-HKBU Joint Workshop on Field Informatics held on March 5-7, 2012 at Hong Kong Baptist University, the HKBU-KU Inter-University Symposium on Field Based Design held on March 29-30, 2013 at Kyoto University, the KU-HKBU 2014 Joint Workshop on Design for Sustainability (D4S): Mobility and Healthcare held on June 12-15, 2014 at Hong Kong Baptist University, the KU-HKBU 2015 Joint Workshop on Design for Sustainability (D4S): Design Green Partnership Agreement between Kyoto and Hong Kong, as well as the KU-HKBU 2016 Joint Workshop on Design for Sustainability (D4S): Design Creative Education in Hong Kong.

Aspects to focus on

Creative Design for Sharing Economy
  • Discover the challenges of sharing economy by comparing and contrasting cases of different cities
  • Explore the linkage between the challenges and the culture of the cities
  • Design solutions to address sharing economy challenges

This year's joint design workshop contains three sub-workshops:

  • Workshop 1 in Tainan: Strengthen understanding on sharing economy and learn from cases in Tainan
  • Workshop 2 in Kyoto: Learn from cases in Kyoto and contrast them with Tainan’s
  • Workshop 3 in Hong Kong: Learn from cases in Hong Kong, contrast the cases of the three cities, and design solutions
