COMP Faculty and Student Win Best Paper Award for Co-authored Paper at International Conference

PhD student of the Department of Computer Science, Chengjian Liu, with Dr. Kai Ouyang, Post-doctoral Research Fellow, Dr. Xiaowen Chu, Associate Professor, Dr. Hai Liu, Visiting Assistant Professor and Prof. Yiu Wing Leung, Professor of the same department, recently won a Best Paper award for their co-authored paper “R-Memcached: a Reliable In-Memory Cache System for Big Key-Value Stores” at The First International Conference on Big Data Computing and Communications (BIGCOM 2015).

The award-winning paper proposed a reliable in-memory key-value cache system, R-Memcached, which tolerates up to two node failures occurred in a cache system. The proposed technology enhances the stability of large-scale key-value stores, which are widely used in Web-based systems.
