i-TECH Summer Camp and Mind Drive Competition 2015

The Department of Computer Science celebrated the arrival of summer with more than 20 secondary school students from 5 local secondary schools! During 3-4 July 2015, our department organized the "i-TECH Summer Camp" and prepared a series of exciting activities for our future IT leaders. Students were delighted to learn interesting IT knowledge in our workshops, such as the "3D Modelling and Printing" and the "Natural User Interface Design for Entertainment Workshop". After learning some basic concepts on natural user interface design, students applied what they had learnt in the "Mind Drive Competition". In the competition, students demonstrated their excellent creativity, programming skills and body coordination. After several rounds of heated competition, the following awards went to:

First Prize
  • LAM Hiu Laam (Christian Alliance Cheng Wing Gee College)
  • TANG Sze Lok Grace (Heep Yunn School)
  • PANG Chi Lap (Christian Alliance Cheng Wing Gee College)

First Runner-up Prize
  • TIEN Ning Chee Olivia (Holy Trinity College)
  • TSE Hiu Fung (Christian Alliance Cheng Wing Gee College)
  • WOO Chun Kit (SKH Lam Woo Memorial Secondary School)

Congratulations to all winners!

Another highlight of the event was the "Cultural Exploration Night", in which 4 visiting Italian students (1 MSc student and 3 BSc students) from the University of Perugia interacted with the secondary school students. Several mass games were conducted, and our Italian visitors quickly got along with the secondary school students well. They designed their team logo/banners together and cooperated closely in the "Leaning Tower of Pisa - Marshmallow Challenge" game. Both the Italian visitors and the secondary school students had had a joyful and memorable time in the "Cultural Exploration Night".
