Abstract
The problem we are discussing is the dynamics of a waste deposit. Specific points on this landfill deposit have been marked and observed during a period of 5 years. The goal of our research was to create an accurate 3d mathematical model of the shape of the body of the landfill. With this mathematical model it became possible to very precisely determine the slope vectors of the slope body and to compare them to the displacement vectors of the selected points. The model can be used for predicting the further development of the landfill. The model gave some interesting insights which I shall present in the lecture.

Biography
Professor Stanislav Barton teaches physics, mathematics and linear algebra at the Polytechnic University in Opole, Poland. In 1981 he received a Doctor of Natural Sciences degree from Masaryk University in Brno. At the Mendel University in Brno in 1992 he received his Ph.D. and in 1993 he became associate professor. In 1992-93 he worked at the Faculty of Informatics ETH in Zurich. Since 1997, he has been a licensed beta tester of Maple and Ambassador Maple Waterloo in the Czech and Slovak Republics. Since 2011, he has been working intensively with the University of Lapland in Rovaniemi, Finland. He deals mainly with mathematical modeling of technical and technological processes and natural phenomena. He is the author of a mathematical model that was used by the Slovak Nuclear Research Institute to determine the residual power of spent nuclear fuel. He has published the results of his research in one monograph, prestigious magazines such as Chemosphere and Land degradation and development, and is also a co-author of Scientific Computing using Maple and Matlab, one of the most successful books in the field of scientific computing.
