18 Oct 2018

Professor Xiaowen Chu, Professor of the Department of Computer Science, and PhD students, Shaohuai Shi and Qiang Wang, received the Best Paper Award for their co-authored paper “Performance Modeling and Evaluation of Distributed Deep Learning Frameworks on GPUs“ at the Fourth IEEE International Conference on Big Data Intelligence and Computing (IEEE DataCom 2018).

The award-winning paper investigates the running-time performance of the state-of-the-art distributed deep learning frameworks through both theoretical modeling and real-world experiments, and also identifies the interconnect communications as a major bottleneck that should be further optimized.

The 4-day conference establishes an international forum for engineers and scientists to present and share their ideas and experiences in the fields of Big Data intelligence and computing.
