12 Dec 2012

Mr. Yang Aobo (IS), Mr. Mak Hin Ning, Benson (CS) and Mr. Tsang Chi Lok (CS) won the the Silver, Bronze and Merit Awards of HKEIA Innovation & Technology Project Competition 2012 respectively.

Aobo's project is about a cloud-based restaurant management system which can be easily configured for different restaurants with floor plan and menu composition. Due to the cloud-based design, the deployment can be on desktop computers, notebooks as well as android tablets. Benson's project is called iCare which is a healthcare application that can keep track of personal heath data (e.g., blood pressure) and provide information about the drug the user is taken and remind the user to take the drug according to the prescription. iCare also provides useful information (e.g. drug-drug interaction, SOS message, etc.) to realize ubiquitous healthcare. Chi Lok's project is a system which applies QR code and digital signature to automate the process of redeeming free parking in a shopping mall. By deploying the system, the conventional practice of manually handling free redemption can be automated which brings convenience to customers.
