17 Dec 2012

The creativity of our students was recognized in open competition again. In the Samsung Hope for Children App Creation Competition, two participating teams, namely 'GPA' (formed by HKBU students and CUSCS student) and 'Lion Ken' (formed by HKBU students) won the Second Place and Third Place respectively.

The competition aimed to invite local university students to design a meaningful and stimulating App by virtue of contributing to the learning and therapeutic environment with speech delay in Hong Kong. One of the award-winning teams 'GPA', formed by 3 IS students Mr. Chau Lung, Mr. Yip Chi Wai, Mr. Chan Sze Ming and another CUSCS student, developed an app named 'Learning Gallery'. It aims to train children's daily word usage, listening, speaking and reading ability. By utilizing 2D and 3D illustrations, children's attentiveness towards words will be increased. The other winning team 'Lion Ken', formed by 4 CS students Mr. Cheung Wai Kin, Mr. Vincent Tsang, Mr. Chan Lok Him and Mr. Yu Ho Ming developed an app called 'Shape and Bubble' for children around 4 years old as a tool to improve their reflex ability while learning how to identify shapes and color. All of the winning Apps will be uploaded to Samsung Apps Store for free download.
