To systematically build upon the previous success in malaria case surveillance and elimination, and to proactively prevent the re-transmission of imported malaria cases, Computer Science Department of HKBU and National Institute for Parasitic Diseases (NIPD) of China CDC have jointly launched a new phase of AI-enabled Programme on Proactive Risk Prevention and Early Case Discovery in the City of Tengchong, Yunnan, which is aimed at achieving the ultimate goal of malaria eradication in the China-Myanmar border region. This initiative will boost the regional capacity in mitigating potential imported malaria risk -- with precision and timeliness -- by empowering the local CDC staff with AI-enabled mobile case-management and decision-support technologies.
