  Frequently Asked Questions

Question 1: Isn't A.I. too remote from our daily lives?

In fact, we have been enjoying the blessing from A.I. technologies for a long time without noticing the benefit they have brought. Examples include rice cookers possessing intelligence for improving rice cooking, washing machines being able to adapt to clothing of different material, sport shoes with intelligence for better fit to individuals, to name just a few.

Question 2: Will A.I. be too hard for secondary school students to understand?

We in fact ask students only to present innovative ideas of applying A.I. technologies in our daily lives. In-depth understanding of related technologies is not required. While some basic understanding on A.I. can definitely help, on-line material on fundamental A.I. concepts will be made available. What we expect from the students is the appreciation of A.I. and innovative ideas on application.

Question 3: Is it just yet another competition?

Other than the cash prizes and the prizes from our sponsors, the winner teams will be invited to meet and interact with a world-renowned scholar Prof. Lotfi Zadeh (The Father of Fuzzy Logic) who is a Professor at University of California, Berkeley and will visit Hong Kong in November this year for the event. This is a golden opportunity for the students to interact with one of the greatest computer scientists and legends of our time!
