- Because time is limited and there are around 20
students in each class, I will present key points of your slides and give
feedback to you during the next 2 lectures (i.e., you need not present):
- COMP 7580 Postgraduates: email you slides to me for
presentation by Nov 22, 24:00 to be presented in class on Nov 24
- COMP 3720 Undergraduates: email you slides to me for
presentation by Nov 29, 24:00 to be presented in class on Dec 1

=> Marks and Comments (htm)
- Outstanding papers: UG (doc); PG (doc)
- Fixed link to materials for analyzing a domain:
Internal Analysis (.ppt) External Analysis (.ppt)
- Sample study survey paper for your reference: (survey1)(survey2)
- IT infrastructures / systems analyst and design as
well as emerging technology application in advanced case studies are the theme of this
course.
- Most cases are based on publications of the lecturer in order to
provide first hand information and in-depth understanding.
- In Lecture 2, I shall present the
main case study first. Note that technical details
of those enabling technologies (as opposed to
COMP7770) are not the focus of
this course. Technical details are for references and illustration - so they will not be examined.
- The contemporary approach is to achieve both information
integration and process integration via service-oriented integration, so
called "Service-Oriented Architecture" (SOA). New: we shall also
explore opportunities in Web 2.0 and cloud computing.
- Blog for this course is set up:
http://comp7580.blogspot.com/
Welcome to post your comments and follow up questions.
- COMP 3710 / 7580 are in two different grading pools.
The marking standards will probably be around the same though I shall
adjust if indeed necessary.
Course Description (Academic Calendar)
This course covers the use of technology in many
aspects of a business, with particular emphasis on concepts and
practices for modeling, specifying, and integrating
within-enterprise and B2B business processes. How the business
processes related to customer relationship management,
enterprise resource planning, supply chain management,
etc., could be transformed in the Internet era will be covered.
Some case studies related to e-transformation in Business will
also be discussed. Students after taking this course should be
able to 1) understand how e-technologies can facilitate
process/application integration with and across enterprise, and
2) evaluate the cost and benefit that e-transformation can bring
to different business processes of an enterprise.
