The Postgraduate Research Symposium (PG Day) is becoming an essential event in our departmen. In this year, we have event of "Kyoto University-HKBU Joint Workshop on Field Informatics". We are able to share our research ideas, works and experiences to all who have be invited in PG Day.

There were totally 23 papers coming from the PhD and MPhil candidates of the department. Presentation was divided into four sessions covering Pattern Recognition, Information System, Data Mining, Database, Networking and Optimization. We also had the talk, given by Prof. Toru ISHIDA, KyotoU, Prof. Jiming LIU, HKBU, Prof. Reiko HISHIYAMA, Waseda University, Dr. Bo XIAO, HKBU, Dr. Hiromitsu HATTORI, KyotoU, Dr. Hai LIU and Dr. Haibo HU, HKBU, Dr. Tomohiro KURODA, KyotoU, Dr. Naoto KUME, KyotoU, Dr. William CHEUNG, HKBU, Dr. Shigeo MATSUBARA, KyotoU, Dr. Li CHEN, HKBU.

In this symposium, Ms. Tao Li and Ms. Li Yuanxi won the best paper award. Mr. Gao shen and Ms. Li Yuanxi won the best presentation award. Finally, the PG Day organizing committee thanks the active participation of the faculty members and the postgraduate students, it is their effort that makes this symposium a successful event.
