Objective
To provide students
the opportunity to self-learn some software packages which are
commonly used in the workplaces. After going through
the material, you are expected
(1) to be able to get
started with those software packages,
(2)
to appreciate its usefulness, and
(3) to be able to use it to accomplish
some related tasks.
Note that the material is
prepared with the assumptions that
(1) you have some exposure to
Windows-based and Linux-based platforms, and
(2) you have some basic understanding of the
computing environment provided by the Department and
the University.
Also, they are just starting points helping you to take off.
You will need to refer to other related books and on-line resources in order to
further enhance your competency in making the best of those packages.
