Dr. Kejing Yin Awarded Prestigious HMRF Research Fellowship to Advance AI in Liver Cancer Screening

Dr. Kejing Yin, Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science, has been awarded a highly competitive Research Fellowship from the Health and Medical Research Fund (HMRF), administered by the HKSAR Health Bureau. This prestigious fellowship recognises Dr. Yin’s innovative project aimed at transforming early liver cancer detection through artificial intelligence.

The project titled “Explainable AI methods for early screening and prognosis prediction for liver cancer using electronic health records” has been awarded a HK$1.1M grant. By leveraging transparent AI models to analyse electronic health records, Dr. Yin’s research aims to enable earlier, more accurate detection of liver cancer, paving the way for improved patient outcomes.
