Prof. Eugene Santos, Jr. from Dartmouth College visited the Department and delivered a Distinguished Lecture on "Fusing Multiple Sources of Conflicting Information" on 8 November 2011. During the lecture, Prof. Santos not only explained concepts in the field of Computer Science, but also illustrated real-life examples in the context of social science and behaviourism. Inspired by Prof. Santos's findings, many audiences were interested in Prof. Santos's research, and the Distinguished Lecture was well-received.
Prof. Eugene Santos, Jr. received his Ph.D. ('92) degree in Computer Science from Brown University. He is currently Editor-in-Chief for the IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics: Part B, and an associate editor for the International Journal of Image and Graphics. Prof. Santos serves on the editorial advisor board for System and Information Sciences Notes, and he is on the editorial boards for Journal of Intelligent Information Systems and Journal of Experimental and Theoretical Artificial Intelligence. His areas of research interest include artificial intelligence, intent inferencing, social and cultural modeling, computational social science, automated reasoning, decision science, adversarial reasoning, medical modeling and simulation, user modeling, natural language processing, probabilistic reasoning, knowledge engineering and active user interfaces.
