Prof. Christian S. Jensen from the Aalborg University visited the Department and delivered a Distinguished Lecture on “Keyword-Based Spatial Web Querying” on 24 April 2014. Prof. Jensen shared an account of a quest for spatial web querying functionality that was easy to use, that was relevant to users, and that could be supported efficiently; based on recent and ongoing work by the Prof. Jensen and his colleagues. The talk illustrated different kinds of functionality and the ideas underlying their definition, and it described briefly techniques that were capable of supporting the functionality. The talk was well received by the audiences. After the lecture, Prof. Jensen also discussed his research expertise and shared his experience with our research postgraduate students and faculty members.
