Computer Students Visited the Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute

On 11 March 2014, around 30 students and staff of the Department visited the Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute (ASTRI) at Sha Tin. After attending a briefing on the company profile and their mission of enhancing Hong Kong’s competitiveness in technology-based industries, students learnt about the process how a new technology is brought to the market. The students enjoyed a guided tour to various interesting on-going projects by ASTRI, such as - 4G-LTE technology for mobile communication, Digital Pathology System enabling faster and better diagnosis of diseases, and 2D-to-3D 1080p Video real-time Conversion.
