i-TECH Summer Camp and Mind Drive Competition 2016

4 Jul 2016

The Department of Computer Science celebrated the arrival of summer with more than 20 students from 12 local secondary schools! During 29-30 June 2016, our department organized the "i-TECH Summer Camp" and prepared a series of exciting activities for our future IT leaders. Students were delighted to learn interesting IT knowledge in our workshops, such as the "3D Modeling and Printing Workshop" and the "Natural User Interface Design for Entertainment Workshop". After learning some basic concepts on natural user interface design, students applied what they had learnt in the "Mind Drive Competition". In the competition, students demonstrated their excellent creativity, programming skills and body coordination. After several rounds of fierce competition, the following awards went to:

First Prize
  • YIP Tsz To (Diocesan Boy’s School)
  • WONG Ka Ni Flora (Holy Trinity College)
  • NG Wyun (La Salle College)
  • LAW Pui Kwan (St. Paul’s Secondary School)

First Runner-up
  • TAM Siu Ying (Diocesan Boys' School)
  • CHAN Ching Hei Lauren (Holy Trinity College)
  • LEUNG Ka Wun (Queen Elizabeth School)

Congratulations to all winners!

Another highlight of the event was the "Cultural Exploration Night", in which 3 visiting Italian students (2 postgraduate students and 1 undergraduate student) from the University of Perugia interacted with the secondary school students. Several mass games were conducted, and our Italian visitors quickly got along with the secondary school students well. They designed their team logo/banners together and cooperated closely in games. All the international and local students spent a joyful and memorable "Cultural Exploration Night" together.
