To enable students staying ahead in the job market, the Department of Computer Science has been collaborating with different industries to organise recruitment talks, workshops and seminars on the campus regularly. Last month, an introductory and recruitment talk by one of the Big Four accounting firms, PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) China, was held for both undergraduate and postgraduate students of the Department.

Attended by over 70 students, the talk featured guest speaker Ms Eva San, Manager of Campus Recruitment, Human Resources, PwC China. She introduced various career development programmes that PwC offered to students.

She introduced the company’s LEAP programme — a student-led club for first- and second-year bachelor’s students in Mainland China, Hong Kong and overseas — which provides participates a variety of leadership and business training events.

For Year Two and Three students, the company’s Internship/Placement Programme, which is currently open for application, enables students to work alongside experienced professionals in the lines of service of Assurance, Consulting, Risk Assurance and Tax, experiencing the company culture and getting prepared for their future career.

Besides introducing PwC’s career development programmes, Eva also invited her associates working in different teams to share their work and experience with the students in the talk.

With strong industry connections and alumni network, the Department solicits internship/placement opportunities for students, fostering their future career development. The Department believes that, through internships/placements, students can put the IT knowledge they learnt in class into practice in the real-world and gain professional hands-on experiences prior to graduation.
