HKBU-NVIDIA Joint Symposium 2025 came to a successful close on 4 March 2025, showcasing remarkable digital transformation in healthcare. The symposium opened with inspiring remarks from Professor Aiping Lyu, Vice-President (Research and Development) and Dean of the Graduate School at HKBU, and featured 12 distinguished speakers, who shared cutting-edge insights into advanced medical technologies.

The keynote session began with Professor Simon See, Global Head and Chief Solution Architect at the NVIDIA AI Technology Centre, who explored the transformative potential of generative AI in medical applications. He introduced the pioneering NVIDIA BioNeMo platform that is designed to optimise foundational models for drug discovery.

Professor Vincent Wong, Assistant Dean (Development) and Mok Hing Yiu Professor of Medicine in the Department of Medicine and Therapeutics at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, then demonstrated the use of AI technologies to enhance the diagnosis of chronic liver diseases, focusing on predictive modelling and early intervention strategies.

Professor Jiming Liu, Associate Vice-President (Research Development) and Chair Professor of the Department of Computer Science at HKBU, followed, highlighting the critical role of AI agents in addressing complex public health challenges, particularly their resilience and efficiency in managing health systems.

The research presentation sessions further explored the integration of AI with clinical data to advance research and service delivery. Key themes included innovations in endoscopic procedures, breakthroughs in cancer detection, and multimodal data analysis in improving diagnostic accuracy. These discussions sparked lively exchanges among researchers, industry leaders, and academics, fostering collaborations to drive innovation and enhance patient outcomes in the rapidly evolving healthcare technology sector.

Jointly organised by HKBU and NVIDIA, and hosted by the Department of Computer Science, HKBU-NVIDIA Joint Symposium serves as a vital platform to strengthen the connection between academia and industry, fostering cross-disciplinary collaboration since 2022.
