Professor Jiming Liu Endows Scholarship to Cultivate Future Leaders in Computer Science

The Department of Computer Science (“the Department”) is pleased to announce the establishment of the “Prof. Jiming Liu Future Leaders in Computer Science Scholarship,” endowed by Professor Jiming Liu, Associate Vice-President (Research Development) and Chair Professor of Computer Science. This new endowment fund reflects Professor Liu’s longstanding commitment to the Department and his dedication to empowering emerging talent.

Starting from the 2026-27 academic year, the scholarship will award HK$5,000 annually to one local undergraduate in Year 2 or above from the Department. The award will recognise students who have achieved outstanding academic results and demonstrated leadership and active participation in community service or extracurricular activities.

Professor Liu’s contributions to the Department have been marked by visionary leadership and mentorship, inspiring students to excel both inside and outside the classroom. “It’s about fuelling students who not only master code but also code for change,” he said. “As future leaders, they will advance our field and help solve real-world challenges.”
