Frontiers in the Biometrics

Abstract
The biometrics is a field of technology to automatically identify a person using physiological or behavioral traits like the fingerprint, iris, face, hand vein, ear, gait, typing dynamics and voice. It becomes a new solution to security management for its high security and convenience. In this talk, new biometrics technologies with conventional ones are introduced: these include the touchless fingerprint recognition, fake fingerprint detection, iris recognition at a distance, iris recognition in the mobile environment, 3 dimensional face recognition, face entertainment center, cancelable biometrics for privacy protection and etc. In addition to them, status of biometric industry in the world and Korea are presented with a view for the future biometric technology.

Biography
Jaihie Kim is the President of the Institute of Electronics Engineers of Korea and the Chairman of Korean Biometric Association. In addition, he is the Director of the Biometric Engineering Research Center, the Professor of School of EE, Yonsei University, Republic of Korea, as well as the member of the National Academy of Engineering of Korea.
