Abstract
With the exploding increasing of mobile users, high bandwidth bas been taking as a main concern for the design and evaluation of the wireless techniques. There is no doubt that broadband wireless technology is the trend in the next-generation wireless networks. WiMAX, as a broadband wireless access technology, has been attracted extensive attentions from both industry and academia. On the other hand, multimedia applications, such as IPTV, online gaming, and video conferencing, are important and attractive services and will be the killer applications in the future. Therefore, how to support multimedia services over WiMAX networks is very important and challenging. In the talk, first, I will briefly introduce the current broadband wireless access technologies, the challenge issues for reliable multicast transmission. Then, I will present the cooperative multicast scheduling scheme for supporting reliable multicast transmission. By exploding the multi-channel diversity across different multicast groups and user cooperation among group members, the proposed scheme can achieve a fair resource sharing and significant throughput improvement for subscriber stations with different channel conditions. Finally, I will talk about my future work.

Biography
Fen HOU received the Ph.D. degree in electrical and computer engineering from the University of Waterloo in May 2008. She is currently a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Waterloo, Canada. She has published more than 20 papers in the wireless communications and networks. Her research interests include resource allocation and scheduling for multimedia applications over broadband wireless network, queuing management and protocol design in delay tolerant networks.
