The convergence of IoT (Internet of Things) and Blockchain technology is emerging both in industry and academic because of the huge digital economic value and system security performance. In this talk, we introduce our recent efforts on developing CPChain, a public blockchain for next generation decentralized IoT data sharing platform. In CPChain, we develop a hybrid consensus protocol, DPoR (Dynamic Proof of Reputation). DPoR proposes a combination of open access strategy and LBFT (Lightweight Byzantine Fault Tolerance), which can strike a balance among throughput, security and decentralization and motivate the participation of different stakeholders in the Internet of things ecology. We design a data privacy mechanism that allows users to conduct private transactions on CPChain in a secure manner. On CPChain, we develop several interesting IoT applications, such as IoT data sharing (PDash), M2M autonomous transaction, and driving training record.

Chengnian Long is a full professor of Department of Automation, School of Electronic Information and Electrical Engineering, Shanghai Jiao Tong University. His research interest mainly focuses on the Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS), including Internet of Things, Distributed Intelligence Systems with Blockchain technology, and CPS Security. His research results have won the second prize of the National Natural Science and the first prize of Natural Science of the Ministry of Education. He is the Editor of IEEE Blockchain Newsletter.
