Abstract
The last decade witnessed the trend of server-based and specialized computing for integrating heterogeneous enterprise IT systems. In today’s global economy, no company can be really independent, and a company can excel only if it focuses its investment in its expertise domain and takes full advantage of existing solutions or services on the market. This seminar will explain alternative technologies and best practices for integrating heterogeneous and distributed IT systems as well as for integrating enterprise data both syntactically and semantically. It will also clarify the relationship among the object-oriented computing paradigm, the component-based software engineering, and the recent service-oriented architectures. The seminar will identify the fundamental concepts and skills underpinning the latest IT technologies and Pace University’s strategy in integrating them into its computing programs.
