Computer Science Programming Team Clinches a Silver Medal at the 49th ICPC Asia Chengdu Regional Contest

This year, the 49th ICPC Asia Chengdu Regional Contest attracts 307 teams from 185 universities to compete.


The Computer Science programming team has clinched a Silver Medal at the 49th International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) Asia Chengdu Regional Contest, held from 26 - 27 October 2024.

The team composed of three research postgraduate students, Zihan Jia, Runhao Jiang, and Zheng Wu, demonstrated exceptional programming skills during the intensive five-hour hackathon. They tackled complex algorithmic challenges using a variety of programming languages, showcasing their dedication and commitment to excellence.

Reflecting on this experience, the team representative Zheng Wu stated, "We are excited to participate in the ICPC competition. This experience motivates us to push our boundaries and strive for breakthroughs. It not only tested our programming skills but also fostered collaboration and encouraged innovative thinking within our team."

Dr. Xin Huang, Associate Professor of the Department and the coach of the team, expressed his pride in the students' achievements, “It is rewarding to witness the remarkable progress the team has made during the competition. They demonstrated exceptional programming and problem-solving skills, along with strong teamwork in tackling difficult coding tasks.”

Established in 1970, the ICPC is the largest and most prestigious programming competition in the world. This year's ICPC Asia Chengdu Regional Contest attracted 307 teams from 185 universities to compete, providing an exceptional platform for top talent to exchange and explore cutting-edge solutions in programming.
