Soundarajan Narayanan, a master’s student in the Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence programme, has won the Bronze Award at Hong Kong Techathon+ 2026 for his innovative project titled “AI-Powered Smart Wearable Device for Continuous Blood Pressure Monitoring and Health Care Applications.”
Collaborating with teammates from Krhythm Sensing Technology Limited, this innovative solution impressed judges with its significant potential to improve the lives of individuals with hypertension, heart disease, diabetes, and pregnant women. The device leverages cutting-edge machine learning algorithms, software development, and data analysis to provide continuous health monitoring and proactive care.
Soundarajan expressed heartfelt gratitude to HKBU Career Centre and the Krhythm Sensing Technology team, attributing his success to the mentorship and collaborative culture within our Department and the wider HKBU community.
Meanwhile, Zhao Yuxi, a bachelor’s student in the Business Computing and Data Analytics programme, earned the Merit Award in the open group of the Smart Cities category for the team project “ResQNet—Where networks end, we begin.”
Co-organised by the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) and 15 institutions, Hong Kong Techathon+ is the city’s largest international intercollegiate innovation and technology competition. It attracted 1,900 participants from local and overseas universities, who formed 470 teams this year. HKBU fielded 13 students, with seven teams advancing to the finals to compete across four categories.
