Chun Chit Ho, a final-year Computer Science undergraduate, has won three awards for his final year project (FYP), SpatialVoice: AI-Powered Spatial-Computing Platform for Immersive Public Speaking Training.

The project was awarded first runner-up in the HKBU Faculty of Science's NextGen Science & Tech Innovation Contest, and a Merit Award in Stream 3 "Application for Embodied AI" at the 2nd International Competition on AI in Education 2026, organised by the Artificial Intelligence Research and Education Alliance (AIREA) of The Education University of Hong Kong. Furthermore, he received an Outstanding Award from the ASMPT Technology Award 2026.

Developed for Apple Vision Pro, SpatialVoice combines spatial computing and generative AI to create immersive public speaking scenarios. Built using visionOS, RealityKit, ARKit hand tracking, and Apple’s speech recognition framework, the platform leverages a large language model to evaluate speakers across key dimensions, including verbal content, nonverbal body language, vocal delivery, and time management. It analyses users’ speech and nonverbal performance in realistic training scenarios and provides personalised, real-time feedback to help them strengthen their presentation skills, build confidence, and track their progress over time.

Chun Chit said, "The final year project gave me the freedom and support to turn an idea into a real AI solution for public speaking training. It pushed me to innovate with spatial computing and large language models, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to create something with genuine educational impact."

Dr. Martin Choy, Senior Lecturer in the Department and FYP supervisor of Chun Chit, added, "Guiding Chun Chit on SpatialVoice has been highly rewarding. His project shows how a final year project, with focused mentoring, can integrate spatial computing and AI into a practical, innovative solution that addresses real educational needs like public speaking confidence."

The FYP is an important component of the Department's curriculum, in which every final-year student undertakes an independent system development or research project under faculty supervision. It empowers students to apply their knowledge independently, explore emerging technologies, and develop innovative solutions to real-world challenges.
