HKBU Computer Science Scholars Listed Among World’s Top 2% Scientists 2023

The Department of Computer Science continues to make its mark on the global scientific community. A total of nine faculty members, including six featured in the “Career-Long Impact List” and eight in “Single-Year Impact List”, have been recognised for their pioneering research, landing them among the World’s Top 2% most-cited scientists, according to the a newly released list by Stanford University.

Professor Jianliang Xu, the Head of the Department, expresses his deepest congratulations to the esteemed Professors. “Our faculty’s remarkable accomplishments and dedication continue to enhance HKBU’s standing on the global stage. I am immensely proud of their achievements,” he shared.

The rankings, compiled by the research team led by Professor John Ioannidis, are based on the “Updated Science-wide author databases of standardised citation indicators”. This list encompasses 100,000 leading scientists, based on their career-long citation impact (until the end of 2022) and single-year citation impact (2022). The scientists are classified into 22 scientific fields and 174 sub-fields. The rankings are calculated based on standardised information of citations, h-index, co-authorship-adjusted hm-index, citations to papers in different authorship positions, and a composite indicator.
