Ayazhan Kadessova (BSc in BCDA, Year 2) participated in the exciting 36-hour hackathon and won the bronze medal at AUHack 2023.

Ayazhan Kadessova, a second-year student of the BSc in Business Computing and Data Analytics (BCDA), has achieved a remarkable milestone in the tech competition by securing a bronze medal at AUHack 2023 held in Denmark. Competing under the banner of “OkayIPullUp” with three other Year 2 students from Aarhus University, Ayazhan was part of a team that worked on a case for InCommodities, a global "EnergyTech" company that trades in energy sources such as power, gas, and emissions to enhance the use of renewable sources like wind and solar.

OkayIPullUp designed an innovative solution to deliver newly published datasheets by documenting and transferring data twice per hour from API A to API B, demonstrating excellence in innovation and problem-solving in the field. The team's outstanding skills and effective collaboration enabled them to develop a highly effective solution for delivering newly published datasheets and fixing data sets of APIs, despite being relatively new to the hackathon scene.

Expressing her gratitude for the enriching experience provided by the hackathon, Ayazhan shared, "Though I have participated in several hackathons, including JP Morgan Code for Good, CityUHack, NU Hack, and Hong Kong Techathon, AUHack is the most special one. AUHack provided a platform for knowledgeable learning events and offered relaxing leisure activities such as yoga, robot sumo, and saber challenge, which helped us recharge our energy."

Dr. Jean Lai, the Programme Director of BSc in BCDA, commended Ayazhan for her exceptional achievement. "Participation in international competitions is an opportunity for our students to broaden their horizons and showcase their talents and abilities. Ayazhan's impressive performance is a testament to her dedication, also programme’s commitment to providing students with opportunities to excel in their field of study," she added.

AUHack, a 36-hour hackathon has been organised annually by Aarhus University in Denmark since 2016. Participants collaborate to develop hardware projects, VR games, apps, and services. With support from mentors and workshops, they create products for presentation and demonstration.
