Outstanding Undergraduate Earns Prestigious Generation Google Scholarship for Women in Computer Science

Ayazhan Kadessova stands as the sole recipient of the "Generation Google Scholarship for Women in Computer Science" from Google in Hong Kong.

Ayazhan Kadessova, an outstanding undergraduate majoring in Computer Science, has been awarded the prestigious "Generation Google Scholarship for Women in Computer Science" from Google. Her exceptional dedication to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion, complemented by her outstanding leadership abilities and academic achievements, has undeniably earned her this recognition, solidifying Ayazhan’s position as a rising star in the field.

From a global pool of 3,000 applicants, only 87 exceptionally talented female students have been selected as recipients of this year's scholarship, and Ayazhan stands as the sole awardee from Hong Kong. This prestigious scholarship provides her with a well-deserved US$2,500, serving as a critical cornerstone for her ongoing pursuit of a computer science degree. This financial support empowers her to excel in the dynamic world of technology, setting the stage for her future prominence as a leader in the field.

Ayazhan wholeheartedly expresses her sincere gratitude for the invaluable support she has received from both the Department and her fellow classmates. “Their encouragement has played a pivotal role in enabling me to pursue her academic aspirations diligently,” she remarks gratefully.

While specialising in Computing and Software Technologies, Ayazhan has made most of her semester breaks to engage in various learning experience. “I have chance to work as a Software Engineering intern at J.P. Morgan, an NLP Engineer at Super Chain, and an IT Investment Intern at Alphalex Capital Management. These internship experience have equipped me with invaluable professional skills and knowledge,” She adds. Moreover, she actively participates in national and regional Hackathons and Techathons with impressive results, showcasing her exceptional capabilities and dedication to the field.

As a member of the 2023 Generation Google Scholar cohort, Ayazhan is set to become part of an esteemed community that boasts over 3,000 Google scholarship recipients. She is excited for her new chapter, where she looks forward to collaborating with her peers by using their collective talents and expertise to shape the future of technology.
