Biography

Matteo Ferrara is an associate professor at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (DISI) of the University of Bologna. His research interests are in the areas of Pattern Recognition, Computer Vision, Image Processing and Machine Learning.

He received his bachelor's degree cum laude in Computer Science from the University of Bologna in 2004, his Master's degree cum laude in 2005 and his Ph.D. in 2009.

He teaches Deep Learning, Computer Vision and Computer Architectures at University of Bologna, Cesena.

Most of his applied research is in the field of Biometric Systems (fingerprint recognition, performance evaluation of biometric systems, fingerprint scanner quality, face recognition, palmprint recognition and template protection). He is member of the Biometric System Laboratory (BioLab), which is internationally known for its research and publications in the field.
