Both the 7th Final Year Project (FYP) Competition and 4th Postgraduate Paper Contest organized by the IEEE (HK) Computational Intelligence Chapter have been recently concluded.
This year, we have received several entries from different universities in Hong Kong, including the the Chinese University of Hong Kong , the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and the Hong Kong Baptist University. Each submitted project/paper went through a review process by our panel consisting of experts in the area of computational intelligence.
Finally, the six papers/projects were short listed, and then presented in the ceremony, which was held on August 28, 2010. As a result, the competition results are as follows:
Postgraduate Paper Contest:

1. Champion: “Multi-TaskWarped Gaussian Process for Personalized Age Estimation”, Author:Yu Zhang (HKUST), Supervisor: DY Yeung.
2. First Runner-up: “Collaborative Reliability Prediction of Service-Oriented Systems”, Author: Zibin Zheng (CUHK), Supervisor: Michael R. Lyu.
3. Second Runner-up: “Colorization Using Optimal Gabor Wavelet Space”, Author: Bin Sheng (CUHK), Supervisor: Hanqiu Sun.

FYP Competition:

1. Champion: “Hand Gesture Motion Detection and Analysis”, Student: Mak Hing Keung Titan (HKBU), Supervisor: P.C. Yuen.
2. First Runner-up: “Knowledge Discovery over Popular Songs”, Student: Lee Tsz Ho, Li Ming Lun and Wong Hon Pan Robbie (HKUST), Supervisor: Raymond WONG.
3. Second Runner-up: “Panoramic viewing by Mirror Reflection”, Student: Lam Shing Yan (CUHK), Supervisor: Chi-kit R. Chung
