2020 FYP and PG Competition

The flagship event FYP Competition and Postgraduate Student Research Paper Competition was, for the first time, held entirely online on 5-Dec-2020. Due to COVID-19, the event usually held during the summer vacation was postponed to winter.

The two competitions attracted many high quality submissions this year and the shortlisted contestants were invited to present their work live online before judges coming from local universities and guests. The topics were wide ranging but their quality in research and application were equally outstanding. Here comes the winners:


CHAMPION: LI Wenwen (HKU), "Deep Multimodal Representation Learning for Assessment of Parkinson’s Disease Progression"
FIRST RUNNER-UP: LI Ray ZhiXi (HKU), "Virus Spread Optimization: A Novel Metaheuristic Optimization Algorithm"


CHAMPION: Arthur LIU On Chun & LI Shun Ki (OUHK), "Visually Impaired Assistant With Neural Network And Image Recognition"
FIRST RUNNER-UP: Yinzhao YAN Yazid (HKBU), "Android Mobile App Development: E-motion"
SECOND RUNNER-UP: Jason KWOK Chun Wai (OUHK), "AI-Powered Question Generator"
MERIT: Andy YUEN (OUHK), "An Improved Competitive Mechanism based Particle Swarm Optimization Algorithm for Multi-Objective Optimization and Its Application to Signalized Traffic Problem"

The winners will receive certificates and cash coupons as tokens of appreciation for their high quality work. Congratulations!
