History of This Workshop
The 1st Workshop on Social Recommender Systems (SRS) was held in conjunction with ACM IUI’2010 in Hong Kong, while The 2nd incarnation was held in conjunction with ACM CSCW'2011 in Hangzhou, China. Both workshops included 10 presentations and had over 40 participants world wide. As a result, a special issue of the best submissions was published in ACM Transactions on Intelligent Systems and Technologies in October 2011 and a second special issue is being finalized and planned for publication in 2012. Motivated by our success and by specific requests from different participants, we would like to continue the series and hold our 3rd SRS workshop in conjunction with UMAP 2012 for several reasons. First, we would like to extend our reach to the UMAP community, since user modeling is one of the key aspects in SRS. Second, we would like to leverage the knowledge and expertise of the UMAP community to examine the area of people recommendation in particular.
