Report of 2nd PG Day

The Department has initiated and launched the HKBU-CSD Postgraduate Research Symposium (PG Day). The purpose is to enhance the research atmosphere and share the research experience and ideas among the postgraduate students.

Following the big success of the first Postgraduate Day in January 2005, the second PG Day was successfully held on July 4, 2005. It features an invited talk by Prof. Charles Ling on how to write and publish research papers. The main program contains three sessions of presentations from the PhD and Mphil students. It covers a variety of research topics, including Mobile Positioning, Sensor network, Data Mining, Web Intelligence, Pattern Recognition, and so forth. Both of Faculty members and students have actively participated in this event.

In this symposium, Mr. Minji Wu won both the best paper and best presentation award, His paper entitled ˇ§Monitoring Top-k Query in Wireless Sensor Networksˇ¨ proposed a novel monitoring approach to the top-k query in wireless sensor network.
