Title:IBM Service Oriented Architecture

Abstract

In this talk, we will provide an overview on the recently advances in the software industry, namely, service oriented architecture (SOA), and describe how SOA can help each company to benefit from it by customer examples in China, US, and Europe. We will discuss how IBM positions itself in this new software movement.

Biography of Speaker

Prof. Weidong Kou is the chief architect and senior manager at IBM Software Group in Great China Group. He was the director of ISN National Key Laboratory of China, and dean of the School of Computer Science and Technology at Xidian University, China. Prof. Kou also serves as adjunct professor of the University of Maryland, the University of Hong Kong, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Xidian University, South China University of Technology, and Lan Zhou University. His main research areas include data mining, e-commerce, security, and multimedia technologies. He has published over 80 papers in journals and conferences, including papers in prestigious journals such as IEEE Transactions on Communications, IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, IEEE Transactions on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing, and International Journal of Computer and Information Science. He has also authored nine issued patents from US and Canada. He was the founding chair of the International Symposium on Electronic Commerce (ISEC).
