Thank you Letter from DENG Yuchen
Dear CSD Alumni Scholarship Donors,

I am writing to express my deepest appreciation for selecting me as a recipient of the Computer Science Department Alumni Scholarship. As a Year 3 student of Hong Kong Baptist University, majoring in Computer Science with an AI concentration, this recognition not only aids my studies but also sustains me in pursuing technology for positive community contributions.

Your generosity empowers me to further contribute to initiatives that bridge technology with social good. Recently, I led the development of a sign language recognition and translation tool designed to break communication barriers for the hearing-impaired community. Through real-time sign-to-text translation, this project aims to further promote inclusivity and independence, which is a small step towards accessibility for all.

Beyond technical projects, I am deeply invested in nurturing future talent within our department. As a Teaching Assistant for COMP1005, I dedicated over 50 hours to guiding first-year students through foundational programming concepts. Through debugging code to best-practice advice, I dedicated to create an inclusive learning environment that encourages curiosity and collaboration, which are the principles at the core of our CSD culture.

Your scholarship fuels this mission-driven work. It allows me to prioritize creating tools that serve underrepresented groups while continuing to support peers through academic mentorship. I am inspired by your commitment to fostering both innovation and service, and I pledge to honor this award by advancing accessible technology and uplifting others at HKBU.

Once again, I want to express my genuine gratitude for your generosity and support. Your scholarship has significantly impacted my life, and I will always be grateful to you. I look forward to paying forward your kindness by building a more inclusive and connected world through technology. Thank you for your unwavering support and belief in my potential.

Thank you, once again, for your unwavering support and belief in my potential.

Yours sincerely,
DENG Yuchen (Ethan)
