Biometrics-based e-Payment

Abstract

Biometrics-based payment is becoming more and more popular for Chinese mobile payment users. In this talk, firstly I will introduce the background and status of Alipay's mobile payment in China, including its technology evolving from online payment to mobile payment and then biometric payment. Secondly, I will introduce more about the application and challenges of biometric based payment, including fingerprint based, face based, and other modality based as well.

Biography

Liang Li received the Ph.D degree in pattern recognition & artificial intelligence from the Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2007. During the years 2007 to 2014, he was the senior researcher at Sony China Research Lab, and conducted a lot of projects on image recognition related algorithm which as applied for Sony's digital camera/TV/Playstation product line. Since 2014, he joined Ant Financial and now he is a senior staff engineer with IOT department of Ant Financial in field of identity authentication and biometrics based payment. His research interests are the biometrics, computer vision, pattern recognition, etc.
