The Department was glad to welcome around 100 undergraduate freshmen to join our big family at the Orientation Night held on 22 September 2023. The incoming students were warmly welcomed by the Faculty members, the Computer Science Society, senior students and alumni. Senior students also took the opportunity to share with the freshmen about their wonderful outreach experiences provided by the Department. Award Presentation was also held to present the awards to the outstanding students and Peer tutors of 2023/24 were introduced. We sincerely wish that all the freshmen to have a brilliant new chapter of life in the university.

Concentration Award
The Department offers Outstanding Student Scholarship to recognise students with outstanding academic performance in concentration-specific core COMP courses (and JOUR courses for DMC concentration).

The Scholarship aims to support students the air ticket and accommodation expenses who plan to have graduate study overseas to attach to an overseas research laboratory for 4-8 weeks (Year 3 summer).

Peer Tutor Programme
Peer Tutor Programme has been established in the Department since 2007/08, aiming to assist the freshmen in adapting to the University life and to tutor them in their studies. In 2023/24, 25 Peer Tutors are recruited to assist in the mentoring activities conducted by the Department.
