Scholarships & Financial Assistance

The department is committed to fostering academic excellence by offering a range of scholarships to support students in pursuing summer research and study abroad opportunities. In the 2023-24 , our students received more than 10 scholarships with an amount over $635,000.

Admission Scholarships

The Department offer Undergraduate Scholarships to students admitted to the BSc (Hons) in Computer Science via JUPAS at an amount of up to HK$12,000 per student, under the following criteria:

Eligibility

The selection criteria for the scholarship are based on HKDSE results and interview performance, students should:

  • Achieve grade 5* or above in either Mathematics or Information and Communication Technology in HKDSE
  • Attain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above at the end of Year 1 study

or

Students demonstrate a strong commitment to pursuing career in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) industry, with the following eligibilities

  • Achieve A- grade or above in "Essence of Computing"
  • Attain a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or above at the end of Year 1 study

Remark: The scholarship is provided by our Department to support the pursuit of our degree programmes.

The Department offers Non-JUPAS Scholarships to students admitted to the BSc (Hons) in Computer Science via Non-JUPAS School Recommendation Scheme at an amount up to HK$42,000 per student, under the following criteria:

  • Students with outstanding academic performance in their associate degree/higher diploma programme
  • Exceptional interview performance

Remark: The scholarship is provided by our Department to support the pursuit of our degree programmes.

Outstanding Undergraduate Scholarships

The Department offers Outstanding Student Performance Award to BSc (Hons) in Computer Science Year 2 and Year 3 students at the amount of HK$5,000 per student per year, under the following criteria:

Eligibility

Year 2 Students

  • Attain a Year 2 GPA of 3.5 or above at the end of Year 2 study
  • Enrollment of at least 15 units in each semester in Year 2 study

or

Year 3 Students

  • Obtain a major GPA of 3.5 or above at the end of Year 3 study (no retake is allowed)
  • Enrollment of at least 15 units in each semester in Year 3 study

Remark: Applications are not required. It is provided by our Department to support the pursuit of our degree programme. Candidates with minor deviations from the criteria may also be considered.

Mr Tong Ka Ming & Ms Liu Yuk Yin Scholarship offers one eligible local full-time Year 2 or above student, studying BSc (Hons) in Computer Science with outstanding academic performance at the amount of HK$10,000 annually, under the following criteria:

  • Latest cGPA attains 3 or above

Research Scholarship

The Scholarship aims to support BSc (Hons) in Computer Science students who plan to have graduate study overseas to attach to an overseas research laboratory for 4-8 weeks (Year 3 summer) at an amount up to HK$15,000 per student to support the air ticket and accommodation expenses. Students should meet the following requirements:

  • Attain a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or above at the end of Year 2 study
  • Attain satisfactory performance after engaging in a research project under the supervision of an academic staff for at least one semester to pick up fundamental knowledge and skills in the respective research field

Remark: Applicants are encouraged to apply for summer research scheme near the end of Year 2 study.
