All students will be admitted on Faculty of Science Broad-based education (JUPAS Code: JS2510) in Year 1 and exposed to a list of "Year 1 Science and Technology courses" before declaring " BSc (Hons) in Computer Science" as their Major Programme on Year 2 onwards. The Department offers Year 2 Computer Science students with four concentrations, allowing them to tailor their professional path based on specific field of interests and career goals.

For students who attained 5* or above in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) or Mathematics in HKDSE, they will be guaranteed admission to BSc (Hons) in Computer Science in Year 2, after completing their first year of study.

Students in Faculty of Science may select BSc (Hons) in Computer Science as their major subjected to the Selection Criteria.

The Department offer Undergraduate Scholarships to students admitted to the BSc (Hons) in Computer Science via JUPAS at an amount of up to HK$12,000 per student, under the following criteria:

Eligibility

The selection criteria for the scholarship are based on HKDSE results and interview performance, students should:

  • Achieve grade 5* or above in either Mathematics or Information and Communication Technology in HKDSE
  • Demonstrate good academic progress in the programme

or

Students demonstrate a strong commitment to pursuing career in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) industry, with the following eligibilities

  • Achieve A- grade or above in "Essence of Computing"
  • Attain a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or above at the end of Year 1 study

Step 1: Online Application via HKBU’s Online Application System

Application is usually open from October to early January of the following year. Students who didn’t submit their application will not be considered. Successful applicants who are offered a place of admission will be informed through Academic Registry by post / email / phone. Applicants can view their application status through the Applicant Enquiry System.

Step 2: Admission Interview

Eligible and suitable applicants will be invited for interview on a case-by-case basis, depending on the depth and relevancy of the subjects and programme they are enrolled in and their academic and non-academic performance. Interviews for regular Non-JUPAS admission are usually conducted from March to May.

The Scheme is arranged in addition to the regular Non-JUPAS admission exercise. The Department invites sub-degree programmes to nominate qualified students for interview. Successful candidates, apart from receiving offer, will be awarded Scholarship for Computer Science Non-JUPAS School Recommendation Scheme based on their academic scores and interview performance.

Applicants fulfilling the following requirements may apply for direct admission to Year 3 of BSc (Hons) in Computer Science Programme:

  1. Final year students or graduates of sub-degree programme and degree holders; or

  2. Transfer students who have completed at least one year of study of a 3-year degree programme or two years of study of a 4-year degree programme.

To facilitate senior year students’ engagement in exchange programme / internships and lighten their study load during regular semesters, summer Programme takes place in near July.
