Professor Yiu-ming Cheung Elected as a Member of European Academy of Sciences and Arts

Professor Yiu-ming Cheung, Chair Professor in Artificial Intelligence (AI), is a leading expert in the fields of AI and machine learning. He has been elected as a Member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts (EASA) in Class IV: Natural Sciences, recognising his sustained academic excellence in his research field.

His research focuses on machine learning and visual computing, with applications in data science, pattern recognition, multi-objective optimisation, and information security. His innovative work has been well recognized internationally. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), International Association for Pattern Recognition (IAPR), the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), and British Computer Society (BCS), respectively.
EASA founded in 1990 is a European association committed to advancing scientific and societal progress, with a mission to stimulate cross-disciplinary collaboration among reputable scientists of all disciplines, leading artists, and governance practitioners. The Academy comprises over 2,000 eminent scholars and practitioners, among them 38 Nobel Prize winners, from Europe and beyond.
