The Department of Computer Science has secured over HK$4.5 million in research funding from the Research Grants Council (RGC) for the 2025/26 funding cycle. This year, amidst a highly competitive environment featuring 313 project submissions, HKBU secured a total of 65 awards, in which the Department of Computer Science garnered five awarded projects, including three under the General Research Fund (GRF) and two through the Early Career Scheme (ECS).
Professor Jianliang Xu, Head of the Department, expressed his profound gratitude to faculty’s achievements and the collaborative effort of the entire team. “This achievement underscores our department's unwavering commitment to advancing pioneering research and innovation. These grants will enable our researchers to explore new frontiers, engage in impactful multidisciplinary and transdisciplinary projects, and make substantial contributions to society that extend beyond the realm of academia.”
The GRF and ECS are competitive peer-reviewed research funding schemes administered by the RGC. The GRF supports researchers who have demonstrated or have the potential for research excellence, while the ECS aims to nurture junior academics and prepare them for a career in education and research.
