Professor P C Yuen (third) of Hong Kong Baptist University, Hong Kong presented the opening remark and Professor Anil K. Jain (fourth) of Michigan State University, US presented the on-line lecture to the participants.
In-person participants and speakers spent a treasure afternoon on the cruise.
Participants had a great time with each other and is time to say goodbye.

The IAPR/IEEE Winter School on Biometrics 2023 (WSB2023) was held in Shenzhen on 8-12 January, 2023. Jointly organised by the Department of Computer Science, Hong Kong Baptist University, the Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Southern University of Science and Technology, the winter school attracted around 90 participants, including professors and senior postgraduate students from world-wide tertiary institutions. Due to the worldwide outspread of COVID-19, the winter school introduced online lecture as well.

The 5-day winter school included lectures, hands-on session, talks from industry and social programme. To consolidate the fundamental knowledge of biometrics and share the latest biometric development, the scope of the programme is designed to cover the topics which mainly include mobile biometrics, anti-spoofing, template protection, and fundamental of different biometric modalities. The theme of this year was Trustworthy, Privacy-preserving and Safe Biometrics. New and challenging topics are covered in the course by internationally renowned experts from all over the world.
