Ritik Yadav, a Year 3 Computer Science student majoring in Computing and Software Technologies, embarked on a 4-week research internship at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in Israel in summer 2023. During his internship, Ritik had the opportunity to work on two meaningful and exciting projects.

Under the guidance of Professor Daniel Felsenstein and Dr. Yair Grinberger from the Department of Geography at Hebrew University, Ritik focused on debugging code inconsistencies between two different implementations of the project titled 'Agent-Based Simulation of Covid-19 Contagion in Cities.' Furthermore, he participated in the project titled 'Agent-Based Modeling with Inverse Reinforcement Learning (IRL),' which was a collaborative effort between HUJI and Australian universities. In this project, Ritik gained valuable real-world experience by conducting data analysis on geospatial data and creating a feature matrix for training the IRL model.

Reflecting on his experience, Ritik shared, "Overall, my research journey at HUJI was transformative and impactful. It not only enhanced my research skills but also nurtured my passion for making a positive social impact." He concluded, "Collaborating with brilliant minds during this summer research has been truly rewarding for me."

This exceptional opportunity enabled Ritik to go beyond conventional education setting and immerse himself in a global research environment, where he acquired valuable research experience and cultivated a global perspective.

The Department of Computer Science is committed to offering students diverse opportunities to engage in global research, foster international collaborations, and empower them to become future leaders and innovators in the dynamic field of technology.
