About

Dr. Xian obtained his Ph.D. and M.Sc. degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Duke University. Before joining Hong Kong Baptist University, she was a research scientist at the Hong Kong Science Park. She has also been a lecturer at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) and Duke University, and a research scholar at the Hausdorff Institute of Mathematics in Germany. Dr. Xian’s developed products have received the Hong Kong ICT awards, and secured funding from Lenovo, Sun Hung Kai Properties, and Hong Kong ITF. She generated patents and technical standard reports in numerical optimization and wireless sensing. Dr. Xian served as a technical committee member and reviewer in international conferences and journals, including the International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence (IJCAI), and the International Conference on Learning Representation (ICLR). She is recognized as Fellow of Higher Education Academy (FHEA) in 2025.
