Professor Yike Guo, Vice-President (Research and Development) and Professor of the Department of Computer Science, HKBU, was recently elected Fellow of the Hong Kong Academy of Engineering Sciences (HKAES) to recognise his excellence and contribution in the field of machine learning and data-driven scientific research.
Professor Guo is a pioneer in data science and has developed innovative technology and systems for data analysis and machine learning. He is a professor of Imperial College London. His recent work focuses on applying data science and data mining in life science, healthcare, environmental science and art-tech creativity.
Professor Guo has contributed to numerous major research projects. He is now the principal investigator of a research project, “
Building Platform Technologies for Symbiotic Creativity in Hong Kong”, which has been awarded funding of HK$52.8 million from the Research Grants Council’s (RGC) Theme-based Research Scheme. This is the first time that major funding has been allocated by RGC for an art-tech project. He was also elected as a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, the British Computer Society, a Member of Academia Europea, and Fellow of the Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence.
HKAES is an organization of Hong Kong’s most eminent engineers of various disciplines who are recognised leaders of the profession with distinguished achievements in engineering sciences or applications. The Fellowship is characterised by its dedication to serving Hong Kong, Mainland China and the region with top-quality engineering expertise. Only up to eight Fellows may be elected annually by their peers for personal achievements of exceptional merit and distinction.
