Dr. Kristen Yuanxi Li, Lecturer of the Department, has been awarded the Honorable Mention in the General Education (GE) Teaching Award for the academic year 2022/23. This recognition acknowledges her exceptional efforts in developing and delivering GE courses.

The selection panel was impressed by Dr. Li's use of a variety of educational technology both inside and outside of the classroom, promoting active and collaborative learning among students. Her innovative teaching methods to foster student engagement and interaction also earned her high praise.

Dr. Li has introduced several innovative GE courses, including "Design for Smart City: Towards a Sustainable Living," "Design Thinking and IT Empower Social Innovation," "The Coming of AI and What It Means for Our Communities," and "Life is a Game, How to Win." She believes that by incorporating activity-based learning, research-based learning, and an interdisciplinary approach, these courses can help students develop creativity, a global outlook, critical thinking skills, and prepare them for the future, while also allowing them to make a positive social impact and serve their communities.

Established under the University’s President’s Award for Outstanding Performance in Teaching, the GE Teaching Award aims at recognising individual academic/teaching colleagues’ outstanding performance and devotion to the teaching of GE courses.
