HKBU Offers the First Interdisciplinary Programme in Business Computing and Data Analytics

In order to meet the market needs for talents with both Computer Science skills and knowledge of business applications, HKBU will have the first Interdisciplinary Programme in Hong Kong, BSc (Hons) in Business Computing and Data Analytics (BCDA), in September 2019. It is an interdisciplinary programme jointly offered by the Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Science, and Department of Economics and Department of Finance and Decision Sciences, School of Business.

The BCDA programme integrates IT Infrastructure, Data Analysis, Business Knowledge and Data-Driven Problem Solving and Data Analytics Solution Design. All students are required to either go on international exchange or attend internship including Japan, Korea, Taiwan and the United States. Every student would be paired with an industry mentor and guidance and support for mentees’ career development would be provided. Currently, 13 organizations would provide internship opportunity for BCDA students. Scholarships would be awarded to students with outstanding academic performance.

The BCDA graduates could start their careers as business communicators, data scientists, data developers, data engineers, database administrators, financial analysts, market researchers, and other IT-related professionals or enter financial services jobs. In the meantime, Department of Computer Science and School of Business would provide start-up support.
