Yue Liu (2021 BSc in Computer Science graduate) and Xiaopeng Luo (2021 MSc in Advanced Information Systems graduate) are awarded champion and merit in Final Year Project (FYP) Competition and Postgraduate Paper Competition 2020-2021, respectively, organised by IEEE (Hong Kong) Computational Intelligence Chapter.

Yue Liu wins champion with her final year project titled “Novel View Synthesis and Geometry Embedding with Multinocular References” while Xiaopeng Luo’s awarded paper is “Exploiting Information of Multi-sourced Data Composed of Any-type Attributes for Accurate and Robust Recommendation”. They thanked for the kind advice and guidance from their supervisors, Dr. Jie Chen and Professor Yiu-ming Cheung from Department of Computer Science.

As Yue Liu shared her thoughts, “my final year project focuses on the novel view synthesis in Light field reconstruction, which helps to improve the image reconstruction quality. The award gives me strong support and confidence that I could further explore and work in my interested computer science area. I am truly grateful for the judging panel’s recognition. “

The annual IEEE (Hong Kong) Computational Intelligence Chapter Final Year Project Competition and Postgraduate Paper Competition award students with their excellent final year projects and research papers. The projects and papers are related to an area of computational intelligence such as artificial intelligence and machine learning, intelligent risk management, financial engineering, simulation process, pattern and speech recognition, intelligent systems, data mining, fuzzy systems, neural networks, and evolutionary computation. Outstanding projects or papers are carefully reviewed and selected for awards by a team of professional industry experts and leaders under fierce competition.
